    High school was weird

Two odd high school related events this week.

I get a friend request from someone on facebook. The name sounded vaguely familiar so I accepted. When I looked at her history feed (what's be going on in Facebook) I recognized so many names and then realized I must have gone to school with her in Florida (a glance at the yearbook confirmed this). I thought that was pretty cool, as I remember more folks from my school in FL than the school in TN from which I graduated. In fact, I thought that only one person from the school in FL remembered me, and we're in regular contact already! Then, on closer look, I realized she was promoting a book. So much for sentimentality!

Today I'm in line at Target to spend a giftcard earned on mypoints (email me for a referral!), and I notice that the checker is wearing one of the temporary nametags. She looked very young so I just thought she was new to the workforce--new nametag, youthful appearance. She then let me know that she remembered me from HIGH SCHOOL (fifteen years ago!), but unfortunately I didn't remember her (please see comment in previous paragraph about me not remembering many folks from my TN high school). Now, she said she sees folks from school all the time and my comment was "me too, and when I see them I think 'it's time to move out of nashville'." probably not the nicest thing to say and I meant it as a joke (mostly). What I should've done is asked her what she uses for skincare. No joke, she looked like a teenager (although I doubt that Target would put a teenager new to the workforce on register). I hope I look that young.

High school wasn't bad or anything, it was just a necessary step. My friends and I didn't really get into the whole experience as we knew it was just temporary.
